Micah Richards said AC Milan winger and Liverpool transfer target was “Absolutely eaten alive” by Chelsea right-back Reece James on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

The 23-years old Portuguese is a transfer target for both Liverpool and Chelsea. The winger has been in immense form. He had the chance to impress the blues at Stamford Bridge but he was pretty much kept quiet by Reece James. AC Milan lost 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Reece also received Man of the match for his fabulous performance in the fixture.

Rafael Leao has 4 goals and 4 assists in Serie A for Milan. Rossoneri were waiting for another big performance in this big fixture but Reece James had other plans. James had Leao in his pocket most of the time. He also managed to bag a goal and an assist winning himself the Man of the match award for the night.

Before the start of the game, Richards had described Rafael as a “frightening” player.

“I have watched this guy, Portugal international, he has four goals and six assists this season and he’s frightening,”

said Richard to BT sports.

“He has pace to burn down this left-hand side. His close control and step-overs – he runs in-behind and defenders can’t catch him.

What did Richard say after the match about Reece James keeping quiet the winger?

After the man of the match performance of Reece James against Milan, Richard commented:

“I was pretty disappointed with Leao. I mentioned him and Reece James, before the game.

“I built him up before the game. There was one moment in the game where he did nice jinking, if that had gone in, then the game might have changed.

“But Reece James absolutely ate him alive, not just defensively. He literally kept going back and forward – but, after that moment, Reece James was keeping him back the other way, he gets his assist and goal later on in the game.”
