Mikel Arteta should deploy Gabriel Martinelli as a striker -Dean Jones

Dean Jones suggests that Gabriel Martinelli should be deployed as a centre-forward in the coming weeks.

Since Gabriel Jesus injury, Arsenal had to select the front trio of Saka, Martinelli, and Nketiah, which has brought a large amount of success this season. Arteta’s side are sitting at top of the table and the team looks great form.

However, there is a drip in form for Nketiah is the last few matches. The Forward only scored twice in his last seven appearances for the Gunners.

But now, Arteta does have Leandro Trossard, who started for the first time last weekend before getting replaced by Martinelli. The Brazilian ended up creating the chance which led to Martinez’s own goal. However, Jones believes that Arteta can play both of them in the Starting eleven.

MARTINELLI CAN PLAY AS A STRIKER

With Nketiah struggling in front of goal, Jones suggests on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that the Spanish manager should deploy Martinelli as a striker. He further claimed:-

“I think he’s running out of steam in this team, and I’m starting to wonder if they look at rotating the side now. Is there any possibility.

“I mean, this is just something I’m putting out there because I’ve heard that it’s not impossible that Arsenal do try this – of them playing Martinelli up top?”

Martinelli can be a good option at the centre of the attack. However, the Brazilian previously made ten appearances as a centre-forward although it clearly isn’t his natural position. Arteta has to be brave to take this decision.

Gabriel Martinelli has shown great form this season, scoring eight goals in the Premier League. The Brazilian needs to be on the pitch as much as possible.
