Newcastle and Juventus eye on closing a deal for Kalvin Phillips with City

Newcastle United and Juventus are keeping an eye on signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips. The clubs are looking for a loan deal with City in January window. Phillips is a left out player by his club since his move from Leeds United. Consequently, he is attracting the interests of clubs like Juventus, Liverpool and Newcastle United. Moreover, Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli are under investigation for betting charges. They are under the suspicion of facing a long-term ban. Therefore, the clubs are looking for some really quick replacements in their midfield.

Kalvin has been struggling with his minutes at The Etihad Stadium since his arrival in 2022. Now, as per the latest reports by the Telegraph ,

“Kalvin Phillips can get an offer for a January route out of Manchester City to keep his Euro 2024 dream alive – thanks to the Italian betting scandal.”

“Phillips will consider a move away from City in the next transfer window if he continues to sit on the bench for the next six weeks. His options may have received a timely boost.

“Juventus and Newcastle United are expected to be forced into the market to find cover for midfielders Nicolo Fagioli. He has been banned for seven months, and Sandro Tonali, who is also facing a lengthy suspension.”

“Moving to Juventus for the second half of the season can be a good solution by both Phillips and City, with the Italian club not in European competition.

“Newcastle have shown an interest in Phillips in the past but, like Juventus, would most likely want only a loan deal in January. It remains to be seen whether City would allow him to move to a Premier League rival or not.”
