Newcastle United

Newcastle United’s boss Eddie Howe says their £28million new signing Lewis Hall is not fit enough yet to start. Two of their summer signings featured in the match against Liverpool on Sunday at St. James Park. However, Hall was not even included in the bench when the teams news dropped.

Eddie Howe admits Hall is not fit to start yet

Newcastle played their first game after Hall arrived on loan from Chelsea. Furthermore, the 18-year old will be a permanent transfer next summer for £28m. This was his first chance to make a debut for the Magpies. Despite calls for him to start, he was not even included on the bench. Moreover, Dan Burn started as their full back.

Eddie Howe has explained his decision in post-match presentation with Chronicles saying,

“He’s trained with us, but he’s not played a game during pre-season.”

“He’s only trained, so he’s some way short of being match fit.”

The Magpies must wait to see Hall in action

After Eddie Howe’s statement, it may be a while before the Magpies will se Lewis Hall in action. The Toon boss seems pretty sure regarding the fitness of 18-year old as not fit enough yet to secure a spot in his starting lineup. Everybody is well aware of how physically demanding it is to play for Eddie’s side.

The fans will definitely be eager to watch their new signing getting into action as soon as possible. The supporters always want to see the calibre of a new signing to discover if it is really worth the investment. Though, in case of Hall, they must be patient as he’s still very young and does not have a lot of senior experience. He proved himself at times while at Stamford Bridge but was not a regular first team starter.

Even when Hall is completely fit, he will have to fight for his spot with two players. Not only he has to oust Dan Burn but also has to overcome the challenge of Matt Targett. While he was a smart signing, Toon fans might have to wait to see what Hall is truly capable of in a black and white shirt.
