Ole displeased with lacklustre Manchester United

Solskjaer lamented the slow start and lack of sharpness of Manchester United as their Carabao Cup campaign was halted.

After three days from winning a thrilling Premier League clash at the London Stadium, the Red Devils were on the wrong end of the score-line.

West Ham shocked the Red Devils, knocking them out of the Carabao Cup with a solid 1-0 win. An early Manuel Lanzini strike established the advantage the Hammers needed to go all the way.

The hosts were unconvincing in attack and failed to convert any of their 27 attempts.

Ole and Manchester United haunted by slow starts

David Moyes’ men lost dramatically to United at the weekend. Not discouraged, Moyes made 10 changes before travelling North on Wednesday to look for a place in the EFL Cup fourth round.

Manuel Lanzini struck in 9th minute and proved sufficient to sink United, who made 11 changes. The Red Devils recorded 27 shots and 61% possession but could not break through.

To their good fortune, West Ham missed a huge opportunity to double their lead late on.

Both Andriy Yarmolenko and Mark Noble missed guilt-edged chances. However, it was his team’s sluggish start that concerned the Norwegian boss.

United were off to a slow start at the weekend to West Ham and repeated the same at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Solskjaer : “We were really disappointed we didn’t get something for the weekend“.

I think on the day we were at least worthy of a point so we’re disappointed with that but United are an outstanding team, with a lot of talent within their group

Solskjaer went on to praise David Moyes for the work he put into the team. Building on it from “the terraces right the way down“. The gaffer was ruing their slow start once more and got down to address it immediately.
