Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Anthony Martial injury

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Anthony Martial did not participate against Leicester City owing to an injury sustained during the international break.

The ex-Monaco forward scored the only goal in his side’s 0-0 draw with Everton before the international break. But he was unable to be seen at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Red Devils scored twice on the day but were defeated 4-2 by Brendan Rodgers’ side. Solskjaer has now explained why Martial was not present at the game. The player after the Nations Cup was injured.

The Red Devils dropped points for the third week in a row after falling to the Foxes 4-2. After Raphael Varane suffered an injury while on international duty with France. Ole Solskjaer was forced to make some alterations to his team.

Anthony Martial, on the other hand, was unable to make the trip. The Frenchman was also a member of the side that just won the UEFA Nations League final. He scored his first goal of the season in the club’s final game before the international break against Everton.

However, with Rashford’s comeback, Martial’s fight for a starting position is only going to become tougher. The 25-year-old has already struggled for playing time this season and would like to return soon to gain some much-needed minutes.

Anthony Martial On His Way Out?

Antony Martial has been linked to a move to Newcastle in recent weeks. This comes after Newcastle was taken over by the Saudi Arabian PIF. Antony Martial is currently 25 years of age and following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. He has become the third choice striker behind Edison Cavani.

This injury could honestly mark the end of the player’s career at Manchester United. He had scored in the recent 1-1 draw against Everton. While many had hoped for this to be a chance for the French Striker to make his comeback to the starting 11. It feels rather this could be the start of more of a Goodbye.
