Pakistan WTC Standing improved; India to the 4th.

Pakistan‘s successful chase of 342 took them to number 6 with a win-loss percentage of 58.33 percent. South Africa (71.43%) and Australia (70%) are now leading the chart. SL fails in spite of Chandimal’s peak form

Sri Lanka’s Oshada Fernando tried to give a good start (35 & 64), but couldn’t carry the momentum. Skipper Karunaratne failed in both. Dinesh Chandimal has been in terrific form throughout. He contributed respectively with 76 and 94 runs in each innings. However, Mendis gave support to Chandimal by scoring 76 runs in the second innings. Prabhat Jaysuriya’s effort with the ball (5 & 4 wickets each fell short to gift Sri Lanka a necessary win.

Babar and Shafique’s heroics played a crucial role in Pakistan’s WTC Rankings

It was solely a Babar Azam show in the first innings. It was he who stood as tall as a pillar and scored 119 of 244 balls. He took Pakistan to a reasonable position in the first innings. He was supported by Abdullah Shafique’s 160 and Rizwan’s 40 to chase down the massive total. Even Babar contributed 40 runs too in the second innings. Shaheen Afridi expectedly took 4 wickets for 58 runs. Mohammad Nawaz took a fifer for 88 runs, nicely supported by Yasir Shah who bagged 3 wickets but leaked 122 runs in just 29 overs. Shafique was awarded as the MoM for his sensational innings that helped Pak to lead the series by 1-0.
