Pep Guardiola blocked City wonderkid Oscar Bobb loan move

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was not in favour of sending out Oscar Bobb on loan. Despite, two UCL clubs being interested in him, Pep blocked the loan move. This is as per the Telegraph, as the 20-year old has made a few appearances for the senior team this season. Described as ‘unbelievable‘ by the Spanish manager, Oscar has made an impact in both pre-season and as a sub in the Premier League.

Pep said after City’s 3-1 win against Red Star Belgrade that the Norwegian will get a ‘lot of minutes‘. This is especially after McAtee’s loan move as well as Mahrez and Palmer’s exit. Now, it is clear that Pep was keen on keeping Oscar rather than a loan move. However, clubs like Ajax and Porto were keen on signing the Norwegian talent on a loan move. The two clubs were willing to even include Bobb in their Champions League roster for this season.

Pep really votes Oscar Bobb as talent

Undoubtedly, Pep sees something special in the Norwegian as City have always been happy to loan their young talents to develop elsewhere. Moreover, as we consider the interest of Spanish coach in Oscar, it seems he has two beliefs for him.

First, as like in Phil Foden’s case, training day in and day out with the senior team will accelerate his development to a degree that would not be the case at another club on loan. Second, Guardiola believes Oscar could be in line for game time, whether that is only in cup competitions, as a rotation player in the league at times or as a genuine option in the event of an injury crisis in either midfield or attack.
