Pep Guardiola draws comparison of City man Bernardo Silva with playing legend

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praises his man Bernardo Silva for his abilities. The City manager even draws the comparison of Bernardo to the likes of Lionel Messi. The Portuguese international was vital and secured a brace in 6-1 win over Bournemouth. Though, the headlines were written for the performance of Belgian man Jerome Doku. The winger was the protagonist of the attacking threats posed by City. Owing to is five-star performance, Man City have regained their top spot in the Premier League. Moreover, Silva scored in both the halves of the game.

The 29-year old Portuguese also left an impression in the game against Manchester United the previous week. There were some rumours about the transfers of him to La Liga. Despite this, he signed a new contract at The Etihad stadium in August. Speaking after the match against the Cherries, Guardiola draws comparisons of Silva with Lionel Messi. The Argentinian worked under Pep during his time with the Catalans. He said,

“The goal reminded me of [Lionel] Messi, I saw many times Leo in that position and did this chip in. He’s an extraordinary player.”

Bernardo has scored 3 goals for Manchester City so far this season in 12 appearances. During the last season’s Champions League semi-final, he even scored a goal against Real Madrid to secure their spot in the final. Later on, the Sky Blues went on to lift their maiden European tournament trophy. Moreover, if City want to retain their title, then Bernardo has to be a key in their midfield for the season as he has always been.
