Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola makes a cautious prediction for his side’s title hopes. City must be looking for a fourth consecutive Premier League. title under Pep Guardiola. However, the Sky Blues currently stand fourth in the league behind Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa. They even failed to win four out of their last five games. Though, a win over Luton last week saw them taste first victory in five games.
During the 2017/18 campaign, City ran out to win the title before every other could even challenge for the trophy. If the defending champions want to retain their glory, they must show the same resilience again this time. Moreover, speaking in a recent press conference, the Spanish manager was optimistic about his side’s title charge. Though, he also warns to be more cautious during the race. He said,
“I don’t know how, but I will help the team to come back in our position and the team, absolutely (they have the ability).
Will it be enough? I don’t know, because the contenders are so strong. The consistency of Arsenal over two years has been amazing.
Liverpool is back, I knew it from day one, for many reasons, the character is still there because being with Jurgen (Klopp), always is happens. Look, all the other teams.”
During the previous campaign, City were seven points short of league leaders Arsenal after 16 games. However, they were able to capitalise on the loopholes from Gunners and won the title with games to spare in the latter stage. Now, with just four points of the leaders after same matches, City will be hoping for another remarkable turnaround in the road to Premier League glory.
