Petr Cech has a new role while Chelsea still searching for a suitable replacement of him

Chelsea legend Petr Cech has a new role as an ice hokey goalkeeper for Belfast giants on loan. However, Chelsea are still searching for a suitable replacement of Cech who left the side in 2015. Since then, the Blues have tried a huge no of goalkeepers but all have gone in vain. First, it was Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic who shared the responsibility. Though, it was a complete failure and both of them left just after two years. Though, Courtois secured a move to Real Madrid and has been impressive for the Spanish giants.

The summer of 2018 marked the incoming of world’s most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for £72m at Stamford Bridge. He even had the backing of veteran keeper Willy Caballero. Though, his time was also tarnished by mistakes that got him under the radar of both, fans and media. Until 2021, he was the first choice of Chelsea between the sticks. The arrival of Thomas Tuchel marked the rise of Senegal international Edouard Mendy as the new goalkeeper. Moreover, he was a vital part in the Champions League victory in 2021. Though, things went downhill after that and eventually Mendy was shipped to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli in this summer. Moreover, Kepa is also enjoying his loan spell with Real Madrid and wishes to stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

Now the pressure of Chelsea’s no.1 is on Robert Sanchez who has been decent till now except some errors. The ex- Brighton man came under criticism for his pass to Declan Rice leading to a goal in the London Derby against Arsenal which ended 2-2. Chelsea bottled a comfortable 2-0 lead to draw the game. Chelsea are linked to Aaron Ramsdale in the January transfer for their goalkeeping option.
