Phillippe Coutinho transfer from Aston Villa in a doubt

Aston Villa midfielder Phillippe Coutinho transfer is in a doubt due to injury. The 31-years old Brazilian midfielder agrees personal terms with Qatari side Al Duhail as per rumours. By the same token, the Qatari side is insisting on the move too.

Coutinho transfer from Villa will be a ‘surprise’

Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said that he will be ‘surprised’ if Phillippe Coutinho leaves Villa Park at the end of the summer window. However, a spanner in the potential transfer move is an injury to the midfielder during the 4-0 win over Everton earlier this month. The injury has forced him missing the previous two games. Moreover, he will also miss the Conference League clash against Hibernain.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery hopes to have the player available in 2-3weeks. Though it is the injury that may put an end to any possible transfer, according to Hutton.

“Coutinho’s not played a lot of football and he’s injured at this moment in time so for him to leave, I’d be surprised,” he told Villa News.

Emery continues “I don’t see any team paying a lot of money or shelling out the wages for a player who’s out injured for a few months. It’ll be an interesting one to see how it develops. But do you see his future being at Villa? Probably not.”

The Brazilian midfielder completed his move to Aston Villa last summer from Barcelona but saw his season disrupter by injuries. He made a total of 22 appearances in all competitions and scored just one goal in his entire 2022/23 season.
