Post Match Analysis: India vs England: 1st T20I

India secured a win under their belt as they beat England by 50 runs in the 1st T20I.

Starting with the toss, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.

India did have a blazing start with Rohit Sharma hitting the English bowlers for boundaries.

But, he played a rash shot that cost him his wicket.

Similarly, Ishan Kishan too struggled in the innings and was caught out by Parkinson off Moeen Ali.

Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda brought some momentum back into the Indian side.

Then afterwards, it was all Hardik Pandya as he blazed through to his fifty off just 33 balls.

The rest of the Indian batting didn’t do many wonders and the visitors finished at 198/8.

England needed 199 runs to win the 1st match.

But, in the second innings, England struggled even more than India.

They kept losing quick wickets right from the start.

Dawid Malan tried to resurrect the English innings but he was bowled by Pandya.

After that Harry Brook and Moeen Ali also took great fun smashing the Indian bowlers.

Finally, it was Chris Jordan who hit some lusty blows before England collapsed at 148.

Jos Buttler, England captain, said that India played really well and did exceedingly well in the second innings. Praised Jordan for his excellent figures in T20 cricket. Gave praise to Bhuvi for bowling well. Mentioned that they wanted to hit some balls out of the park but the Indian bowlers didn’t allow them to do so. Appreciated Matt Parkinson for showing bravery during bowling in such a high-scoring game. Concluded by saying that it’s great to see some players getting exposure.

Rohit Sharma, India captain, said that it was a good performance overall. Was happy with the intent of all the players who played in the match. Mentioned that they wanted to utilize the Powerplay overs well. Praised Hardik Pandya and said that there were variations and speed in the latter’s bowling and Sharma was impressed with Hardik’s batting as well. Praised the other bowlers for making full use of the conditions early on. Ended by saying that they were sloppy on the field but they will do better in the future.

India and England are all set for the 2nd T20I which is due tomorrow at Birmingham.
