According to The Mirror, Ralf Rangnick does not want to let Donny van de Beek leave Manchester United. The Red Devils are going to offload some of their players in January. However, Donny van de Beek is not going to be a part of this offload. The midfielder is reportedly ‘valued by Rangnick’ and is unlikely to leave Old Trafford.

Donny van de Beek struggled massively to get playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, Manchester United has now appointed Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager. Therefore, Donny has got one more chance to prove his worth to the club. Nevertheless, he was likely to leave the club in January if the Norwegian manager was still in charge.

However, the Dutch international has played only eight minutes in the Premier League under Rangnick. He played the whole Champions League game against Young Boys. Nevertheless, he returned to the bench against Norwich City. Therefore, there is no clear indication by the manager for the player regarding his game time.

Rangnick has managed only three United games and there is a lot to come from him this season. However, due to the COVID outbreak in the United camp, their matches are getting postponed. The matches against Brentford and Brighton are postponed. Moreover, there is a chance that United may not be back in action until Christmas.

Why Rangnick is adamant to let Donny van de Beek to stay at Manchester United?

Donny van de Beek was one of the best players in Europe at one point when he was at Ajax. He played a key role in Ajax’s march towards the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2018-19. However, he did not get enough chances to display that quality for Manchester United. However, on the day before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked, he displayed his world-class quality and also got himself a goal to show for it. If the Dutch international returns to his best then United can profit a lot from the player.

Moreover, United will also have to appoint a permanent manager in the summer. Many managers would like to have Donny van de Beek in their squad. Therefore, Rangnick keeping Donny at United is also because of the new managerial appointment at the club. In addition, United can lose Paul Pogba sooner or later and big clubs are smart enough to replace their big players beforehand. As a result, the manager can also favor Donny instead of other midfielders. Donny’s quality can help United solve a lot of problems, however, he needs regular game time to find the rhythm.

Ralf Rangnick is going to move upstairs after his job as the interim manager for the consultancy role at Manchester United. Therefore, he also needs to make some decisions from the vision of a consultancy role right now. Donny staying at United can profit the future permanent manager at United. As a result, the German manager has made the call of letting the Dutchman stay at the club.
