Transfer Pundit Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal are now confident about signing Ajax defender Jurrien Timber this summer.

Gunners have been very busy in this transfer window, but they are yet to officially announce a signing this summer. Kai Havertz looks the first one, as he will be soon announced as Arsenal player.

Mikel Arteta and Co. came very close to winning the Premier League title last season, but injuries to some their important players ruined everything. Arsenal lost both William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu on the same night and left them lack of options at the back.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano claims Arsenal are keen on signing Timber. He said :-

“Jurrien Timber – second bid submitted on Monday morning from Arsenal. It’s around €45-48 million (£38.6-41.2m), add-ons included.

“Very positive feeling, at the moment it is not yet a done deal as I’m speaking, but Arsenal are very confident.

“They have an agreement with the player on a five-year contract. So everything is almost ready between Jurrien Timber and Arsenal, just waiting on agreement between clubs. They are advancing very well in conversations.”

The Dutch full-back would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.

Timber is essentially a right-back, who can also play as a cente-back. He is similar player as Oleksandr Zinchenko but is yet to reach the Ukrainian’s potential.

The 22-year-old is good on the ball and can also slide into midfield. He is still young and has loads of potentiality to become a successful player at the Emirates.
