Saudi Pro League director Micheal Emenalo shared the reasons why Al-Ittihad failed to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah this summer.

Emenalo was the man incharge for monitoring the business done by the Saudi Arabian clubs in the summer transfer window. Al-Ittihad’s pursuit for the Egyptian international was done under his supervision.

Speaking with SkySports, The director was asked about the Saudi’s failed bid for Salah this summer. Emenalo claimed that deal didn’t materialise due to some reasons and said :-

“First and foremost, Salah is one of the best players on the planet,” said the former Chelsea director. “I’ve said before, privately and publicly that we welcome anybody that wants to come to the SPL. That includes Salah.

“But we have to do things in a very professional and respectful manner. That’s what we’re there for, it’s what the SPL has been refined to do – bring professionalism, respect of efficiencies, and do things in a competent way.

“If it didn’t happen, it’s not because we no longer fancy the player, or because we have a problem with Liverpool. It’s because certain things that need to align didn’t.

“Nobody is angry, we move on, but we close no doors and if the opportunity is there to do things and do it well, and it brings Mo Salah to the SPL, we’ll be very grateful.”

After all the transfer saga in last few weeks, the director clears the fact that ” nobody is angry”. However, reports suggest that Saudi clubs will again bid for Salah in the next summer transfer window.

His team-mates Allison Becker and Luis Diaz will also under be Saudi’s radar in the January transfer window. Hence Liverpool will be very much cautious of keeping their squad intact for future.
