Serge Gnabry did not enjoy his time at Arsenal before departing in 2016. His loan spell at West Bromwich was also horrible as Tony Pulis said that Gnabry was “not at the level”. However, he has become one of the most dangerous wingers in Europe. Many clubs other than Arsenal are monitoring his situation at Bayern Munich. He has a contract expiring with Bayern at the end of the next season.
He has scored goals in double digits since leaving Arsenal in 2016. An injury and a failed loan did not let him play to his full capacity in England. However, Gnabry already has 12 goals in his bag this season with the German still hunting for more. This could even be his best season if he ends up with more than 23 goals this season.
However, there are some difficulties in renewing his contract with the Bavarians. Sky Sports have reported that there are differences between the club and player relating to salary expectations. They also report that there are 50:50 odds of Gnabry extending his contract. This has already made the Arsenal fans hopeful as Gnabry has previously mentioned that Arsenal will be favorites if he ever returns to the Premier League.
Serge Gnabry was photographed wearing shirts from Germany, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal, prompting fans to leap to conclusions. The fans were quick to link Gnabry with a move to Arsenal when his picture in an Arsenal retro kit went viral. Gnabry has expressed his affection for his time in England which does not rule out the odds of him playing with an Arsenal crest.
Why Arsenal fans are excited to see Serge Gnabry at Arsenal?
Gnabry’s contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in June 2023 and has yet to be renewed. Arsenal may be able to sign him at a bargain this summer since the Champions League winner has the quality to propel Arsenal to the top four regularly. He can use his Champions League experience with Bayern Munich to help Arsenal in their Champions League campaign.
Arsenal will be able to create more opportunities in attack because of his speed and directness. He’ll also instill a desire in other Arsenal attackers to improve their game. This will drive the other players to give it their all, giving the manager a problem when it comes to picking the starting lineup.
Gnabry has won a lot of trophies with Bayern Munich and has created a habit of winning with the German giants. However, that could be difficult for him to replicate that at Arsenal. It would certainly challenge the mentality of the player which already is quite strong. His attitude to not give up even after a serious injury and a failed loan spell at West Brom is one of his special attributes.
There is no serious interest from any club in signing Serge Gnabry currently. However, clubs could shift their gears when he has only year left on his contract i.e. at the end of the season. The German international remains one of the best wingers in world football who is comfortable playing on either side of the pitch. Gnabry succeeding at Arsenal in future would be fairytale stuff for a lot of people.
