Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill has given update on Bukayo Saka’s injury concern ahead Arsenal’s match against Manchester City this weekend.
The 21-year-old limped off in the first-half against Lens in Champions League this week. Saka assisted Gabriel Jesus’s goal before going off the field as Fabio Viera came in.
The French outfit went on to win the match in the second-half as Adrien Thomasson scored the winning goal. But the main concern for Mikel Arteta will be Saka limping off the field in the first-half as winger has been one of the mainstay for Arsenal.
However, Cotterill claims injury doesn’t look much fatal as Saka’s absence will not be out for long-term. He said on Sky Sports live match blog :-
“I don’t want to give Arsenal and England fans false hope. But the feeling around here, and not at all official, is that Saka may not be too bad.
“Perhaps a muscle strain or maybe a precaution.”
Meanwhile, after the Champions League clash, Mikel Arteta was asked wheather he regretted picking up Bukayo Saka in the starting line-up. The Spaniard replied :-
“No. It was a knock that he had the other day and he was perfectly fine. It was just a back-heel, an action that can produce that kind of injury.
“Let’s see what the extent of it is and afterwards it’s too late. The last few were more knocks than anything else.
“He hasn’t really missed games. But we gave him a break against Brentford (in the Carabao Cup) last week and that was all.
“He was really looking forward to playing like every player. It was a big Champions League night.
“But this Champions League is so difficult to win away from home. Today we take a big lesson.”
