Steve McManaman believes Liverpool striker needs to change his playing style

Steve McManaman claims that Liverpool forward needs to change the way he plays. Steve was indicating towards the gameplay of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan is in the spotlight after scoring against Burnley. The goal marked an end of 12 games goalless record for him. Owing to his goal and one from Jota, Liverpool emerged 2-0 victorious at Turf Moor. Even after the goal, there are still questions on the performance of the striker.

Speaking prior to the game for Amazon Prime Video Sport, Steve said he should aim to become more like his countryman Luis Suarez.

“Nunez has been here 18 months. Yes, he works hard, he’s energetic, we know that. But he is slightly chaotic.

People compare him to Luis Suarez up here [in the head], but Luis Suarez was ice cold. Very cool. very calm. Sooner or later Darwin has to start changing and becoming more of an out-and-out goal scorer.”

The fans at Anfield will not agree with the points of Steve. Although there are parallels between Nunez and Suarez, the two are not very similar. It can be said that Suarez was a more clinical finisher. However, even he struggled to find his boots during first few seasons. Darwin is also a proven goal scorer for his previous club. It may be just a matter of time when he will also start finding the net. He is still in the top 10 goal contributors of the division. Hopefully, his latest goal can pave the ways for more. If he fails to do so, he is still is providing a lot to the club. The manager will definitely find the best position for him and get the best out of his striker.
