Previously, Chelsea had been interested in signing Hakimi from Inter Milan before he went to PSG.

Therefore, currently, Chelsea are monitoring the situation of the Moroccan international as they get ready for the transfer market to open. They are reportedly going to go for a shopping spree this season in the summer transfer market.

Therefore, the Blues are going to make a host of signings. However, the news of Hakimi has come as a surprise to many.

It is known that Thomas Tuchel has cancelled his holiday this summer to focus on his preparations regarding transfers.

Chelsea has confirmed that Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are going to leave the club this summer. Moreover, there are reports of more experienced defenders leaving the squad with the likes of Cezar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

It is no surprise, therefore, that the greatest defenders of world football would be linked to the Blues. Chelsea are desperate to sign center-backs Joules Kounde and Josko Gvardiol.

Moreover, Chelsea also needs to bring in backups for both Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Why is Hakimi suddenly linked to Chelsea?

The Blues faced a lot of problems this season to make up for the absence of both Chilwell and James. The two wingbacks missed the majority of the season to injuries.

However, there seems to be concern about the future of James. As it is known that Real Madrid and Manchester City have both shown interest in the England international.

Chelsea have been holding talks with James to extend his contract, reports the Athletic.

On the other hand, they are also monitoring the situation of Hakimi in PSG if James is to leave Chelsea.

The 23-year-old right-back has made 41 appearances for PSG this season. In the process, he scored four goals and provided six assists.

He attracted the attention of top clubs after his breakthrough season with Inter Milan the previous year.

At Inter last year he scored seven goals and provided 11 assists.
