The No.4 Spot: What did AB de Villers say?

After the departure of India’s one of the best All-rounders, Yuvraj Singh from International cricket, India has struggled to find that one cricketer who could fill in the No.4 spot.

Reacting to the debate around the number four batting position, Ab de Villiers, on his YouTube channel, stated:

“We’re still talking about who will be the No. 4 batter for India. I’ve heard some rumours about Virat possibly taking up that position. I would be a big supporter of that”

Furthermore, he added that:

“I think Virat is perfect for No. 4. He can put the innings together, play any kind of role in that middle order. I don’t know if he would like to do that”

“We know he loves his No. 3 position, he’s scored all his runs there, but at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something, play a certain role, you have got to put your hand up and got for it”

Who should be the Number 4 Position?

As per the selected batsman for the Asia Cup squad, the eligibility for the fourth position has three contenders, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Kl Rahul.

However, KL Rahul is holding a niggle. Therefore, Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli top the list to set in the spot. Virat has scored 1767 runs with an average of 55.1 and a strike rate of 90.66, batting at No.4. Similarly, Iyer owns 805 runs, with an Avg. of 47.35 and S/R of 105.04.
