‘They are sour anyway’ – Verstappen targets rivals

Max Verstappen has again reacted on the red bull budget cap row targeting rivals.

FIA and red bull reached an Accepted Breach Agreement for the “minor” overspending in the 2021 season. The team was deemed guilty of breaching the budget cap earlier this month.

Mercedes is one of the most vocals on the issue repeatedly demanding a harsh penalty for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. Mercedes and red bull were involved in an intense battle last year for the championship. Silver Arrows is probably eyeing for Hamilton to get the 2021 title. This is because one of the penalties for a minor breach includes a deduction of championship points which could make Hamilton a World Champion.

However, FIA decided otherwise to handle a fine and reduction in wind tunnel testing as a penalty.

Max Verstappen targeted his rivals as he called them ‘sour’:

“I’m not involved in it but it’s a bit frustrating, we believe we have done nothing wrong,”

said Verstappen when asked about Red Bull’s budget cap row.

“It turned out that some things fell under the budget ceiling that we had not expected. But in the end it’s not up to me. They are sour anyway, it no longer matters what you say or do. I can let it go and they probably can’t, they will never be able to and it is a problem for them.”

Anyway, the penalty is now decided and accepted by red bull. However, the question remains whether teams would repeat such breaches in the future or not.
