Arsenal are currently concerned about the fitness of their star player Thomas Partey. Thomas Partey missed the match against Manchester City. On Wednesday, the rumors began circulating that the player won’t be available for the match. And true to those rumors the player did not play the match against Manchester City. Arsenal’s new signing Jorginho filled in for the Ghana international. However, they suffered a 1-3 loss to them. Arteta talked about Thomas Partey ahead of the game. The manager shared,

“It’s what happens in football. Players pick up injuries. Unfortunately, Thomas felt something in his back muscle and he wasn’t available to play today.”

Arteta was asked about Partey’s return, to which he replied,

“We don’t know, It’s what happens, it’s part of football.”

He further continued,

“I think Jorgi played a good game and we have to assess Tommy to see how bad it is.”

Thomas Partey’s injury update ahead of the match

Charles Watts have discussed the player’s injury recently. He admitted to hearing multiple conflicting information about the injury. Watts shared,

“Okay so the news on Thomas Partey ’s injury, unfortunately I can’t give you too much at the moment. It’s going to be checked over more today before we find out a bit more on what the extent of this problem is with Partey. I’m not even sure I couldn’t say for certain what the injury is in terms of what body part.”

He further continued,

“I’ve been told thigh, but I’ve also heard hamstring, so I just don’t know for sure. So we’ll have to wait and see. Mikel Arteta’s press conference tomorrow is at 9:30 in the morning so maybe we’ll find out a little bit more from him in terms of exactly what it is.

“But there’s going to be further checks on party today before determining exactly how long it is going to be out for. There is a hope that it’s not going to be anything too serious and it was just precautionary.”

Partey’s withdrawal from the clash against Manchester City was felt hugely by the team. Thomas Partey was one of the crucial players for the Gunners this season. But sadly he seems to pick up knocks from here and there. Which causes him to miss out on many games. This is definitely something that Arsenal will have to look into at the end of the season. As good as Thomas Partey, if he ends up missing crucial games, the Gunners will have to think of alternatives.
