Arsenal have now opened talks to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen his squad with some additions in the summer as they prepare life back in Champions League next season. Although, Gunners can sign Tielemans on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer and can move on a free transfer, which can attract lot of suitors as a result. Newcastle United and Barcelona are also taking interest in signing the midfielder. However, Liverpool backed away from a deal.
Reds were the first Premier League Club to start monitoring his contract situation at King Power. But it’s reported that, Klopp’s recruitment team thinks Tielemans is not mobile enough to play at Anfield.
That has led Liverpool to move way from the deal. Therefore, reports suggests Arsenal are now in pole position to sign Tielemans in the summer.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are now ready to step up their long standing interest and win the race to aquire services of Tielemans. Arteta will need certain depth in his squad, as they will return back to European Competition next season.
Tielemans is currently suffering from an ankle injury and will be out until the closing weeks of the season. He found the net only four times this season.
However, that report claims that Tielemans’s wage demands are currently quite high and this can be a reason Arsenal move away from the deal.
