Tottenham favorites to sign Brennan Johnson as Forest needs funds

Tottenham Hotspur are now favourites to sign young forward Brennan Johnson as Nottingham Forest requires some funds to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulation.

As per reports, Tottenham will be very much active in the penultimate days of this summer transfer window. There are certain positions in the team still requires to bring reinforcement this week.

After Harry Kane’s departure for Bayern Munich this summer, there is still a void left in Spurs’ attacking line. Hence, they are linked with various talents across the globe.

According to the Independent, Nottingham Forest requires £50m for Brennan Johnson this summer. However, Spurs will face competition from their London rivals Chelsea and Brentford for the young Welshman’s signature this week.

Forrest needs funds to maintain FFP

Despite Brennan Johnson helping the team to earn promotion to the Premier League, he might be sold this week to raise funds. As per Football Insider, Nottingham are struggling to balance their books after spending huge last summer.

Hence, Tottanham are now in pole position to sign the 22-year-old forward. With the help of Johnson’s transfer fee, Forward can regulate back their financial position.

Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano reported that Forest reject the initial bid as it didn’t match their value. The Italian said :-

“The situation with Brennan Johnson is very concrete.

“Nottingham Forest have also rejected a bid from Brentford for Johnson and now Forest are looking at different players, and Tottenham are working on this deal.

“Tottenham can offer better payment terms or players included in the deal. They of course have alternatives, but the focus is on Johnson for now and they’re on it.

“Despite rumours, I’m not aware of any Chelsea concrete talks over Johnson.”
