Tottenham Hotspur have identified Brentford forward Ivan Toney as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, if he leaves the club this summer.

As per Football Insider, Spurs have considered move for Tooney in this transfer window as Kane might exit this summer. However the 27-year-old attacker is currently serving an 8 month suspension after breaching FA gambling rules. His ban ends in January next year.

Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham. German Giants Bayern Munich have already made two bids with both were rejected by Spurs. Manchester United are also keeping an close eye on the striker as manager Eric Ten Hag is a huge admirer of him.

With Toney’s ban, Tottenham have to wait for next transfer window to sign him. The England International scored 21 goals last term for The Bees.

His expliots in front of goal made Pep Guardiola a huge admirer of Toney. He netted two goals at the Ethihad Stadium back in November last year, as Brentford picked up 2:1 victory over Manchester City.

Guardiola praised the forward of his display and described Tooney as an “exceptional” player. He said :-

“Last season we suffered from him and he’s an exceptional player for them.

“He is good, really good. He is able to win [headers] against central defenders.

“The reality is we were not able to control this aspect. Every time the central defender jumped… we suffered.”

Tooney has already proved himself to be a top class talent in the English Top Tier and if Kane leaves Tottenham, he would be an exceptional addition.
