Manchester United and Liverpool are set to go against one another for signing Italian hotshot Simeone Pafundi. The teenager is only 16-years-old but has made waves in Italian footballing circles. He made his debut for the first team in May 2022. He played for 22 minutes, becoming the first player born in 2006 to feature in the Italian top flight.

It is easy to see why Simeone Pafundi is so highly rated. He is a left-footed attacking midfielder with a small frame and is deceptively quick. His passing, vision and game intelligence make him a threat in the attacking third.

Pafundi has impressed the youth teams and represented the Italian national team at the youth levels. His exceptional ability was recognized by the Euro-winning Italian coach Roberto Mancini, as he invited him to a training camp along with the senior team. This is an impressive feat and a testament to his huge potential.

Now, he is on the radar of the biggest clubs in England, according to The Sun. Manchester United and Liverpool have already been engaged in a bidding war with each other for Darwin Nunez. Liverpool, however, secured the signing of the Uruguayan forward. Manchester United will now look to win the battle for Pafundi.

Udinese has appointed a new head coach, Andrea Sottil. It remains ambiguous whether Pafundi will be able to stay with the first squad. Nonetheless, it appears like United and Liverpool are keeping an eye on the issue ahead of attempting to reach an agreement when the player turns 18. This is because English clubs cannot sign U-18 players from European leagues.

Which Club Suits Pafundi More?

Although he has shown exceptional promise, Padfundi will most likely be a part of the development squad of the two teams. He has massive potential for further improving his game in either of these two potential destinations.

Erik Ten Hag has shown his proficiency in getting the best out of young talents during his time at Ajax.

Liverpool too in recent times have produced several stellar academy graduates in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliot.

It is still a long way to go in this transfer. It will be interesting to see how the career of Pafundi shapes up. He has the potential to be one of the top talents of the next generation.
