Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be key in the ODI World Cup: Ganguly

Former Indian skipper and Board President Sourav Ganguly highlights the importance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Notably, team India will be playing Asia Cup and ODI World Cup in next 3-4 months.

Ahead of the two marquee events, Ganguly talks about team Indian’s chances and points out the key players. He thinks Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are Indian’s go-to players for the two events.

The 51-year old Ganguly says,

He’s (Virat Kohli) playing very well, there is no question about it. He will be India’s strength, key player, along with Rohit Sharma. Rohit’s form will be equally important. Last World Cup (2019) he got five hundreds, that’s unbelievable performance,

Ganguly thinks it’s Rohit Sharma ‘s last ODI World Cup

Ex-BCCI boss, talking about Indian skipper’s future. He thinks this will be his last ODI World Cup as he don’t see him playing till the next World Cup.

Ganguly said,

And probably this is his first and last World Cup as captain, he might still do it in the T20 World Cup but for the ODI event, there is still four years and I don’t think he’ll be playing in another few years. Everyone will be important, and I hope they stand up and perform,

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be looking to replicate his performance from 2019 WC. Rohit was in sublime form during that tournament smashing record 5-centuries and 648 runs in 10 matches.

Virat Kohli also has impeccable record in the ODI-format arguably the all-time-great. He has scored 1030 runs at an impressive average of 46.81 in the ODI World Cup.

All the fans will be expecting similar performances from both Indian team veterans in the upcoming marquee events.
