tennis player

West Ham United have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta on a record fee. Paqueta joins West Ham on a five-year deal with an option to extend it for another year. Paqueta becomes the third attacking player in the Hammer’s squad following the addition of Gianluca Scammaca and Maxwell Cornet. The 24-year-old player becomes the eighth summer signing of the Clarets this summer.

Paqueta has 33 caps for Brazil so far. Moreover, he also has seven goals for Brazils in his 33 appearances. Paqueta expressed his happiness in joining the Hammers in his first interview as a West Ham player. Pacqueta said:

“I am extremely happy to be here. I hope it’s the beginning of an enjoyable journey. I hope my time here is successful. Last season, West Ham had a very good season and I hope they continue to enjoy more and more good seasons in my time at the Club. I am excited to pull on the shirt and show the fans what I can do, to help my team-mates and the Club”

West Ham manager David Moyes on the transfer

David Moyes has hailed Paqueta’s versatility and all-round qualities. Moreover, Moyes stated that this was a statement of intent by the club to be regular challengers for the European Championships. Moyes said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Lucas to West Ham. He’s a player I’ve admired from afar for a very long time and of course, we saw him close up in our Europa League campaign last season. He’s a very talented footballer and whilst he will need time to adapt to the Premier League, we’re excited about adding another proven international to our squad”
