West Ham United made £30m offer before deadline to PSG for Hugo Ekitike but it was too late to negotiate. This is according to a report by Santi Aouna, a journalist of Foot Mercato.

West Ham contacted but too late for Hugo Ekitike

One name heavily linked with West Ham throughout the summer window was Hugo Ekitike from PSG. The French giants were pushing Ekitike to join Eintracht Frankfurt in order to help their efforts to bring Randal Kolo Muani from German side.

In the end PSG managed to get a straight cash deal done. As a result, it prompted West Ham to try again for Ekitike. The Hammers made a deadline day offer and were too late to negotiate.

West Ham offered a £4m loan with a £26m option to buy for the French International, a player the club tried to sign in January 2022. However, PSG rejects the bid as there was no room for negotiation with just two hours left of the window.

Foot Mercato journalist, Santi Aouna said, “West Ham has reactivated the track leading to Hugo Ekitike in recent hours. The Hammers wanted to offer a paid loan of £4m + option to buy £26m.”

Despite of the incomplete deal, David Moyes is ready for a long season and have just Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and young forward Divin Mubama as bonafide striker options. In addition to this, Jared Bowen, Mohammad Kudus set to join the club. Jesse Lingard is also willing to join the Conference League champions.

It did not stop West Ham reclaiming their place at the top of the fledgling Premier League table as Bowen and Kurt Zouma scored in a 2-1 win at Luton on Friday.
