Where will Newcastle end next season – Ray Parlour predicts

According to former Arsenal midfielder and pundit Ray Parlour, Newcastle United should aim for a Top 8 finish in the Premier League next season. He also wished for a great cup run for them or even better, a trophy in domestic cup competitions.

The Magpies finished 11th in the league last season. But that was a great end to their campaign considering they didn’t win any of their first 14 games. The Tyneside club appointed Eddie Howe and things started to change. Now with a new cash-strapped owner, they will look to reach newer heights.

Ray Parlour prediction

While speaking to talkSPORT, the Arsenal legend revealed what he is hoping from Newcastle in the coming seasons. He said: They could be a Man City, three or four years it took Man City to start bringing the players in, got the right manager. “I think Eddie Howe will get an opportunity now. But I think a cup run is going to be important for Newcastle.”

“Imagine them getting to Wembley and winning the FA Cup. That would be magnificent for the club. I reckon top eight for Newcastle next season, [and] a good cup run.”

“Teams like Leicester did it, won the league. You want to see people challenging, it gets boring, doesn’t it? If you know Liverpool and Man City, I don’t know what order, but they will be the first two. “We want to see people trying to topple [them] over and [Newcastle] might be another Leicester, who knows? “Newcastle for me, if you can get top eight and a good cup run, then build again, then it will be top six, then suddenly you are getting that squad together and be top four,” Parlour continued. “That is what they will be aiming for.”

Newcastle haven’t finished in the Top 6 since finishing 5th in the 2011-2012 season. But with the new owners taking over, things considerably improved and the fans can hope for better times.
