Shubhman Gill has made a mark for himself after playing against Zimbabwe and is now a strong contender for the upcoming 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Although he’s had fewer opportunities in ODIs, Gill has still made himself known to selectors that he is a worthy opener for the Indian team.
If the selectors take this seriously, then Gill would be slotted alongside Rohit Sharma in the World Cup which is going to be hosted by India.
There are three reasons why Gill should be a part of the Indian squad for the World Cup.
The first of these is that Gill has excellent batting techniques and excellent hand-eye coordination along with footwork enables him to be a better partner for Rohit Sharma.
While Sharma is an aggressive batter, Gill takes his time to play the shots and assess the bowlers.
The second reason is that if Gill becomes the opener, then the selectors can pick a strong middle-order which will include KL Rahul.
And the last reason is that Gill has very promising number although they may not be great at the moment, but the youngster is making sure to increase them in his limited opportunities.
So, these are the top three reasons why Gill should be a frontline choice for selectors in the 2023 World Cup.
