Zak Brown to get more involved in McLaren’s operations now

McLaren racing CEO Zak Brown plays an important role in the functioning of the team as the side welcomes its new team principal.

The McLaren F1 team recently underwent a major change with the exit of Andreas Seidl. The German was quickly replaced by Andreas Stella who was earlier the Executive racing director for the Woking-based squad.

During his time on the side, Seidl oversaw and held control of most of the F1 activities of the team. Zak Brown meanwhile focused mainly on other aspects specifically the promotional and financial side of the team.

However, with the promotion of Stella, this is expected to change. It is the first time the Italian is handling such a position so it won’t be that easy. CEO Brown has also welcomed Stella for his new role while promising to help him. He further claimed that the sudden exit of Seidl won’t be affecting the squad in a “tremendous” manner:

“I don’t think there will be a tremendous amount of change.

“I will certainly lean in more where Andrea would like my support.

“Obviously, in the TP role, there is the sporting side, the commercial side, the media etcetera.”

“I think we will find good ways of working and I would say we have not gone from three people to two people, we have gone from 850 people to 849 people.

“Therefore, it is quite a large organisation where I think there is a tremendous amount of talent in the team and these are opportunities for everybody to step up.

“So I think it will be very comfortable between Andrea and myself, and any modifications he may make, we have got it well covered.”
