5 players who did not play a single match but can go for huge money in the upcoming IPL mega auction

Over the years we have seen many good players come into the limelight in the IPL auction. The nourishment and grooming which the young players receive by being in the tournament are second to none. They get a chance to share the dressing room with some of the best players from all around the world. Certainly, it has also helped the national team as well, as they have a big talent pool for team selection.

As there is so much talent around, often it happens that some talented players don’t get a chance to play. The teams in the IPL are made up of both domestic and overseas players which furthermore decreases the chances for the young talent to feature frequently.

We are going to take a look at some good players who have been warming the bench. As with the addition of two more team’s they might get a chance to get into a team and might go for huge money in the auction for the 2022 IPL. 

Players who can go for big money in the IPL 2022 auction

  1. Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner is a bowling all-rounder from New Zealand. He bowls left-arm spin and can contribute with the bat in the lower orders as well. He was a part of the Chennai Super King franchise in the 2021 season. However, for CSK he had to be a bench warmer. He is out of contention for the playing XI because of the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali who are above him in the pecking order. However, in the upcoming auction, he can go for some big money. 

Santner is a very good T20 bowler as his economy in his T20 career till now is just 7.11. Over the years we have seen how good a bowler he is in the middle overs. Moreover, in the lower order, he can hit some huge sixes as well and give his team a boost. Santner will be an excellent package overall for any team that he plays for in the upcoming season.

  1. Krishnappa Gowtham

Krishnappa Gowtham is an uncapped domestic player. His skills of being an off-spinner all-rounder have become a rare skill in Indian players. In the 2021 season, he was purchased by CSK for INR 9.25 crores. This made him the most expensive Indian uncapped player. 

Gowtham is an excellent T20 bowler. He can be used at any point of the match. In the powerplay, he bowls very economically. He had an economy of 7.39 in his T20 career. Moreover, he is an excellent finisher with the bat. As he can hit massive sixes in the death overs and can take his team over the line comfortably. These qualities of his make him an excellent player to have on the team.

  1. Sam Billings

Sam Billings is an English wicketkeeper-batsman. He was a part of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the previous IPL. Billings is a well-known batsman all around the world. His preferred batting position is at number 4 or 5. He knows how to finish games also as his T20 strike rate is 130.10. 

Billings is a pretty good wicket-keeper as well. He has all attributes a good wicket-keeper needs to succeed. Many teams can go after him because of what he will provide to the team.

  1. Mohammed Azharuddeen

Mohammed Azharuddeen is a wicketkeeper-batsman from Kerala. He has got a lot of attention for his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. Azharuddeen is usually a top-order batsman but can be used as a power hitter at any position of the match. He is a very consistent batsman and comes with a huge variety of shots to help the team win.

Azharuddeen is a very good keeper also. He can be an excellent purchase for any team because of the skill set that he has. This certainly makes it clear that for sure he will attract huge interest from the franchise in the auction.

  1. Sherfane Rutherford

Sherfane Rutherford is a West Indian all-rounder. Like his other West Indies teammates he is also a capable all-rounder. In the 2021 IPL, he was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad but did not get a chance to play. Sherfane is a lethal batsman. He can be the team’s perfect finisher as he bats at number 7or 8 and finishes the innings with his power hitting. He has a strike rate above 136 in the T20s as well.

Sherfane is a good T20 bowler and can be the fifth bowler of the team as well. His economy is 8.33 which is not high according to the shorter format of the game. The skillset that he poses is itself good enough to attract teams. This makes it certain that for sure many teams will go after him.
