Arsenal finished the Premier League season on the second position for the second consecutive year. However there was a improvement as they lost the league on the final matchday by only 2 points. The Gunners will hope to break Manchester City’s streak next season. Mikel Arteta preparing for the next season has revealed that there will be some key decisions taken in the summer transfer window. Aaron Ramsdale seems to have lost his place as a regular starter and is heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates stadium. Ramsdale is reported to switch sides in Premier League with Liverpool rumoured to have interest in him.

Arsenal’s condition with Ramsdale

Arsenal signed Ramsdale from Sheffield United in 2021. Since his arrival, Ramsdale gained his place as a regular start and did an exceptional job infront to the goal. However 2023-24 season didn’t prove the same for the 26 year old keeper. Ramsdale managed to make just 6 appearances in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal signed David Raya on loan in August 2023. Shortly after his arrival, Raya took Ramsdale’s place as a regular starter. Raya made 32 Premier League appearances this season and was able to achieve great results in those. The 28 year old keeper only conceded 24 goals and was able to keep 16 clean sheets. As a result, Arsenal have conceded less goals than anyone else in the league. Mikel Arteta seems highly interested in offering a permanant deal to his fellow Spaniard.

Ramsdale who has lost his place as first choice keeper may soon be seen making his way away to earn more playtime. There have also been rumors about the Gunners interested in signing Dutch goalkeeper Justin Bijlow as Ramsdale’s replacement.

Ramsdale to stay in Premier League

Former English goalkeeper Paul Robinson took his time to talk about Aaron Ramsdale’s current situation. While talking to Football Insider, Robison believes that Ramsdale will not move abroad. Robison thinks Ramsdale can go to either Chelsea or Liverpool. There were rumours about Newcastle interested in Ramsdale some weeks ago. However Robison thinks that there is no chance of Ramsdale ending up at Newcastle.

Caoimhin Kelleher is reported to make his move away from Anfield. The Irish international made 10 Premier League appearances for the Reds this season. Robinson thinks his departure could be seen by Ramsdale as a opportunity to prove himself. The 44 year old former keeper compared the number of games Kelleher and Ramsdale played this season. As a conclusion, Robinson believes Ramsdale could earn more play time and as a result may earn his place as regular starter back. Robinson also thinks that the way Mikel Arteta treated Ramsdale is harsh.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation

Caoimhin Kelleher has admitted that he can leave Liverpool before the new season starts. The Irish international has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic. Alisson Becker has been the main man in Liverpool’s goalkeeping section for the past six season. The Brazilian was rumoured to receive proposals from Saudi over the past few months.

Fabrizio Romano who’s reports are correct almost everytime has however denied any rumours about Brazilian’s exit. He said on his youtube channel that Liverpool are very happy with Alisson and vice versa. Romano continued that Alisson is neither looking for change nor the money. Liverpool have also made their intention of not letting Alisson go very clear.

However Liverpool will still need to find a keeper after the departure of Kelleher. It would be interesting to see if they think about going with Ramsdale who have pretty decent amount of Premier League experience.
