AFC Bournemouth complete five massive signings on deadline day

It has been a terrific transfer deadline day for Championship giants AFC Bournemouth. They have announced five players to conclude an impressive transfer season. Their business this month will please manager Scott Parker as well as the Bournemouth fans.

These signings could go a long way in Cherrie’s Premier League promotion race. AFC Bournemouth currently sits 3rd on the table with 52 points. They are just one point behind 2nd placed Blackburn Rovers and have a game in hand over them. Their new recruits could help them cement a place in the top two.

AFC Bournemouth’s deadline day signings:

Freddie Woodman

The shot-stopper joined the Cherries on loan from Newcastle United. He was the first announcement of the day. Woodman was close to joining AFC Bournemouth last summer but the deal fell through.

Woodman was surplus to requirement at the Premier League club now that Dubravka and Darlow returned to fitness. He will be a good backup option for Bournemouth as their second choice keeper Orjan Nyland is sidelined for 6-8 weeks. The 24-year-old has appeared in five games for the Magpies this season, including their Carabao Cup exit against Burnley.

Nat Phillips

The Liverpool defender has joined AFC Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season. Bournemouth’s second deadline day signing will provide depth to Scott Parker’s defence line. This will also be a valuable experience for Phillips as he has found it difficult to break into Liverpool’s first team. The Premier League giants are spoilt for choices in the centre-back position.

Phillips has managed to feature in just four games for Liverpool this season with just one start coming in their Carabao Cup game against Bolton.

Kieffer Moore

The 29-year-old joined AFC Bournemouth on a permanent move from Cardiff City. Moore offers something different upfront for Scott Parker. He has a very physical presence in the box. He will be a perfect back-up for Solanke as he could come off the bench in a tight game to be a gamechanger.

Moore has scored five goals in 24 matches for Cardiff City.

Siriki Dembele

Siriki Dembele was AFC Bournemouth’s third signing of the day. Dembele joined the Cherries on a permanent transfer from Peterborough. Bournemouth were very heavily linked with the Scottish winger throughout the month. He will be a valuable player for Parker in their search for promotion.

Dembele has been quite impressive so far this season. His performances in Peterborough caught the eye of Bournemouth and they even had two bids turned down for him earlier this month. Dembele scored 5 goals and assisted 2 for Peterborough in 25 games this season.

Todd Cantwell

The last but the best signing for AFC Bournemouth this month was Todd Cantwell from Norwich City. The 23-year-old joined the Cherries on loan with an option to buy. Cantwell is a highly rated player who has had a quiet season so far. He was brilliant for Norwich in their previous spell in the Premier League. Cantwell scored 6 goals and assisted 2 in the 2019-20 Premier League season for Norwich. He has failed to replicate his form this season as he is yet to make a goal contribution in the league. Parker will be hoping to get him off and running immediately in the Cherrie’s outfit.

If Parker manages to get the best out of these new recruits, Bournemouth are certain to play in the top division next season.
