Bassey close to joining Ajax
Now, an article from the Athletic is reporting that Bassey has chosen to join Ajax this summer. Ajax have agreed to sell him for a fee of £20 million. The 22-year-old player signed from Leicester two years ago. His standout performances in the central defense in the Europa League have impressed a lot of clubs across Europe. Bassey has numerous options for his future and he has chosen Ajax. He has chosen Ajax due to its long history of developing young players. Moreover, a transfer to Ajax also means that he will be getting first-team football on a regular basis.
Ajax was waiting for the departure of Lisandro Martinez before intensifying their interest in the player. Negotiations are underway in earnest with Rangers for the services of the player. If this deal goes through, Calvin Bassey will become one of the record transfer sales for the Rangers
