Al-Shabab are eyeing a late deal with Newcastle for Jamaal Lascelles

Newcastle United

The Saudi side Al-Shabab are eyeing on a late deal with Newcastle United to sign Jamaal Lascelles before the deadline. According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles is in the list of the Saudi side before deadline.

The defender has mainly been a backup option since Eddie Howe’s arrival. He will also be out of contract the following summer. The Saudi side Al-Shabab are already closing to sign Yannick Carrasco from Spanish side Atletico Madrid. However, it is worth noting that Al-Shabab are not under the ownership of Saudi Public Investment Fund(PIF). The PIF invests in sides like Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. Still they are looking concrete to sign Lascelles.

Jamaal Lascelles is happy at Newcastle as per reports

Lascelles has already confirmed that he is happy at St James Park. Though, a huge money offer can be a lucrative deal for the Magpies and Jamaal may consider a move for the right money deal. Sky Sports confirmed the interest from Turkish side Besiktas last week as well. They continue to add that Lascelles is happy at Tyneside but is ‘open to leave’ for regular first team game time.

But with the Premier League window closed, it seems very unlikely for Howe to let a centre-back leave. Moreover, during the time when Svan Botman is still recovering from an injury and also with the concerns of Fabian Schar, who left the field holding his hamstring against Brighton.

The Magpies failed to sign a new central defender this summer. Therefore, it is very unlikely to see Lascelles leaving until January transfer window.
