Aleksandar Mitrovic scores a brace against Milwall

It’s getting impossible to put into words Aleksandar Mitrovic‘s incredible season, but the Fulham striker’s stats tell you all you need to know.

The Championship leaders extended their advantage at the top of the standings with two more goals from the Serbian international in a comfortable victory over Millwall at Craven Cottage. The No. 9 has already scored 30 goals in just 27 league outings.

While Marco Silva’s team has wowed this season, earning Pep Guardiola of Manchester City as a fan following last weekend’s FA Cup match, it is their forwards’ voracious thirst for goals that are carrying them back to the Premier League.

With Guardiola’s words of encouragement still ringing in their ears, Silva’s side went in for a search of a win after a draw with Blackpool in their last Championship match.

Aleksandar Mitrovic isn’t holding back anymore

The match was called off in the second half after Hammersmith End fan Paul Parish became unwell and died later that evening in hospital.

All Fulham players donned black armbands, and Silva dedicated the beginning of his program remarks to the lifetime fan and his family.

They all walked across to see Paul’s daughter Clare and granddaughter Felicity at full-time, manager and players alike.

‘It’s the very least we can do for them.’

The fans had paid their own tribute in the 11th minute when they rose to their feet to celebrate one of their own.

Fulham were still finding their feet in this London derby at the time, but Millwall had shown no signs of their early promise.

And that is the most serious problem for Fulham’s opponents in this division. Any period of dominance over Silva’s soldiers is always brief. It is necessary to take risks. Mitrovic’s will be if they aren’t. The Serbian scored his 29th goal of the season in the 29th minute. Neco Williams, a home debutant, broke free down the right flank, and when centre defender Alex Pearce swung a boot and caught his low cutback, Aleksandar Mitrovic fired home from six yards.
