Angel Di Maria is said to be waiting for an offer from the Catalans. The Argentine’s contract with Paris St. Germain recently expired and he is on the lookout for a new club. Juventus are thought to be the most eager to sign the winger.

However, according to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Di Maria is currently waiting for a proposal from Barcelona. Xavi should be looking for a winger this summer as their star signing Ousmane Dembele’s contract expires. Moreover, he is said to be leaving the club.

Though, it is said that Barcelona have yet not show him the door. Moreover, it has been known that he was given a contract extension which the Frenchman declined to accept. However, with the current financial situation that Barca are experiencing it would be difficult to hold on to the player. Moreover, it would be beneficial for the Catalans as well if they could offload a player or two from their wage bill.

Barca cannot expect a fee for the Frenchman as he will be leaving as a free agent. Dembele was bought from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping fee of €105million. Chelsea are said to be leading the race for securing the sign of the winger. He is said to become the first signing after Todd Boehly’s takeover. Though, Dembele’s time at Barca was marred by injuries he stormed back into form under the Xavi era.

Can Angel Di Maria make a move to Barcelona this season?

He registered 12 assists from the 12 games that he played for the club in the latter half of the season. Therefore, Xavi was hoping to keep the player for his future endeavors.

Barca’s priority signing as a winger for this summer is Raphinha of Leeds. Moreover, Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany is set to fly to England in order to make a deal with Leeds.

However, the asking price is said to be around £55m which obstructs the Catalans from signing the player for their financial situation. Di Maria, therefore, knows Barca’s predicament. Moreover, this could sway the deal in his favour. That is why he is remaining patient before committing to any club this summer.
