Premier League clubs Arsenal and Leicester City are reportedly leading the race to sign starlet Yeremi Pino from Villarreal.

The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football. The teenage prodigy broke into the Villarreal’s first-team last season, and has since become a regular feature in the team’s attacking line.

According to Fichajes, Yeremi Pino is being pursued by a number of clubs across Europe. Arsenal and Leicester are considering a move for the winger next summer.

However, Villarreal are under no pressure to sell the youngster. Pino signed a three-year contract extension with the La Liga club in November 2020.

Why do Arsenal want Yeremi Pino?

The 18-year-old has made 46 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. Most recently, Pino also earned his maiden cap for the Spanish national side, as they beat Italy 2-1 to reach the UEFA Nations League final. Pino was also a Europa League winner with Unai Emery’s side last season.

Pino’s progress has not gone unnoticed, especially by English giants Arsenal. The  London club are the latest to have emerged in pursuit of the whizkid. Although, it remains to be seen if they firm up their interest in him in the weeks and months to come.

Arsenal appear to be in the market for a wide attacker amid inconsistent performances from Nicolas Pepe. In addition, there have been suggestions recently that Gabriel Martinelli is growing increasingly frustrated over his lack of game-time. The Brazilian could seek a move away from the Emirates. Keeping this in mind, the north Londoners could do with another addition out wide. And so, Yeremi Pino is a viable target for Arsenal.

Apart from Arsenal, Leicester City also have their sights set on the Spanish international. The Foxes are willing to rival the Gunners for Pino’s signature.
