According to Dean Jones, Arsenal are planning a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.

Gunners are long term admirers of Rice and has been heavily linked with him in recent months. Earlier in January, 90mins reported that Arteta’s are eyeing a move for a Hammers star in summer.

And recently, The Evening Standard have claimed that Arsenal has made Rice their No.1 transfer target. However, the English midfielder has openly expressed his desire to play in Champions League next season and challenge for other trophies.

Now, Dean Jones have told GiveMeSports that Arsenal will now have a “concrete discussion” with West Ham United. He reckons that Arsenal will try to negotiate the price down from initial price tag.

However, Jones also suggests that Gunners will walk away if the price tag stays at £100 million. He said :-

“I think if the price is too high, Arsenal would walk away from it.

“I do expect them to go and have a genuine discussion over this.

“They’ll ask what his price tag is, then they’ll try to knock it down from whatever the bar is set at.

“But if West Ham say they are holding out for £100million, for example, I don’t see Arsenal spending £100million on Declan Rice.”

Arsenal are currently enjoying an outstanding season as they are currently sitting at top of the Premier League Table. It’s a close title race, as Manchester City are breathing under their neck.

If Arteta’s side win the league this season, then they’ll have a good chance of signing Rice in the next term.
