Arsenal are reportedly close to completing a contract renewal for William Saliba. The defender is also now happy with the Gunners.
The Gunners fans are also happy with his performances. However, there are suggestions that the renewal will be completed after the World Cup.
THE CONTRACT SITUATION OF WILLIAM SALIBA AT ARSENAL
According to reports, Arsenal are close to agreeing on a contract extension for William Saliba. The French defender was on loan for three seasons in France. Many even said that the defender will leave the Premier League permanently. However, Mikel Arteta kept on indicating that the player is in the plans for this season. Mikel Arteta actually has handled the situation perfectly.
The defender is now a regular starter for Mikel Arteta. He is also now showing his maturity with Arsenal. The defender looks like a brick at the back. Hence, it seems the loan moves have benefitted all the parties. Arteta while Saliba was on loan said,
“ We are really aware of what he’s doing, how he’s developing. He’s our player and we are really happy with the decision that we made.
MIKEL ARTETA MUST TRY THE EARLIEST TO SECURE THE LONG-TERM FUTURE OF THE FRENCHMAN
Many reports claim that William Saliba might sign his contract extension after the World Cup in Qatar. However, Mikel Arteta must try to convince the Frenchman to sign a new contract before the World Cup. This is due to the interest of a number of top European teams. The report also adds that Athletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and Chelsea were also monitoring the situation of the defender.
Hence, Arsenal need to act fast on his situation. If they do not resolve the situation, the Gunners might be forced to sell him for a cheap fee. Arteta said,
“ We will address all these issues. Edu and the board will be addressing all the issues that you can possibly face. We want players who will be happy here.”.
The thing is clear that Arsenal are working hard behind the scenes to solve the contract situation.
His regular game time at Arsenal has resulted in a call-up for the games ahead of the World Cup. Therefore, this has strengthened Gunners’ position for the contract renewal. Hence, Mikel Arteta will look to avoid any complicated situation in the first-team squad.
