Arsenal can revive their transfer window if they complete two signings on deadline day. The Gunners had several transfer targets in the January transfer window. However, they have failed to sign even one player in winter. Moreover, their opponents are have completed a number of signings that can dent Arsenal’s hopes of the Champions League. The Gunners are contending for a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Arsenal desperately needs a striker before resuming their campaign after the international break. Alexandre Lacazaette has a contract expiring in less than six months. Whereas, Aubameyang is likely to leave the club soon. Eddie Nketiah is another striker whose contract is expiring in six months. A dedicated number 9 is what Arsenal needs at the moment to survive the competition.

The Gunners also do need a midfielder to compete with their rivals. They currently lack the depth which a normal elite club does have in their squad. Xhaka and Partey are the only reliable options at the club. Maitland-Niles and Calum Chambers have now found new clubs which means there are not many players for Arsenal in that position now. Tottenham Hotspur also recently signed Arsenal target Dejan Kulusevski.

Arsenal were linked with Dusan Vlahovic as their striker. However, the Serbian did not see Arsenal as a companion and has joined Juventus instead. The Gunners were also interested in signing Arthur and Bruno Guimaraes but both the Brazilians did not join the club due to unagreeable terms or lack of interest. Douglas Luiz was also one target of Arsenal but Villa looks determined to extend the Brazilian’s contract.

What would be an ideal deadline day for Arsenal?

Arsenal is not heavily linked with a deadline day transfer swoop. However, things can go south any time in football. As mentioned earlier, a striker and a midfielder is what the London club needs the most right now. The failed pursuits of 4-5 players must have dented a few people’s hopes of making a signing in January. Nevertheless, if Arsenal does pull these signings off then those people will be more than happy.

Alexander Isak can play for Arsenal if they want him to. The English club has to pay a release clause of £75 million for the Swedish striker. He is a young, pacey, and prolific striker who will be a greater signing than actually thought of. He can solve most of Arsenal’s questions in the attacking lineup.

Arsenal’s midfield can have a lot of energy if they sign Renato Sanches from Lille. The Portuguese has failed to reach his potential at a big club. However, he will have a second chance at Arsenal and might suit their system. Renato Sanches can also provide the much-needed quality depth in that Arsenal midfield.

However, these players will come at a cost since Arsenal will need some serious funding in order to sanction these deals. Therefore, Arsenal might also have to sell a few players to fund these transfers. This also creates a big question of whom to sell since there are a few players in the Arsenal squad who do not have anything to provide to their team.
