Arsenal can sign French winger Thomas Lemar from Athletico Madrid as he is set become free agent as his contract expires in the summer.

Back in August 2018, under Arsene Wenger, Arsenal submitted a club record £92m bid for Lemar. But he opted for Athletico Madrid in the following year.

The Frenchman was phenomenal back in 2016/17 campaign, in which he scored 12 goals in 34 apperances for AS Monaco and lifted the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 17 years.

But currently, Lemar is struggling at Spain. This season has made only 16 league outings and registered one goal and provided three assists in 30 apperances across all competitions.

Lemar is expected to depart as a free agent after his contract expires in the summer. Arsenal are ready to sign him to ensure more threat next season.

If his wage demands are not huge, Lemar can be a low-risk, high-demand signing for Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard has guided Arsenal to one of their best seasons in last few years. Gunners are fighting Manchester City at the summit until the very end.

Arsenal are keen on adding a new winger in the summer, as it will provide backup for both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Lemar can become a ideal deputy for Arteta in the coming years and revive his career at Emirates.

Lemar can re-start his career in Premier League next season under Mikel Arteta. It will also help him to find his rhythm back
