Arsenal are currently at the top of the Premier League with six victories and a defeat. Midfielder Thomas Partey has missed about four of these games due to a thigh injury. Moreover, he has not been able to overcome his consistent injury issues. Now, according to the Sun, Arteta is concerned about his consistent injuries and is looking for a replacement for the midfielder.

Arsenal sees Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz as the replacement for the player. However, Luiz is seen more as an addition to the depth of Arsenal. Moreover, he will also provide some competition for Partey. Partey’s replacement will not come cheap. Hussein Aouyar, the Lyon midfielder is also considered as one of the replacements for Partey by Arsenal. He will come cheap, Lyon values him at £12.5 which is almost half of what Villa wants for the sale of Douglas Luiz. Arsenal youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga looks better with each match. However, he is far from a consistent starter for the starting eleven and needs some time. So, the Gunners need to get a new player to alleviate the pressure off of the shoulders of Lokonga

Gabriel Jesus was the prime target for Arsenal

Arsenal faced heavy competition in their quest to sign Gabriel Jesus. Clubs all over Europe had expressed an interest in signing the player. According to Fabrizio Romano (speaking to the Que Golazo Podcast) :

“Many clubs in England especially, he told Man City he wanted to try something new and clubs started to approach Jesus. I can mention Tottenham and Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain also had an interest in Jesus as a possibility, they had many conversations, but Arsenal were convinced about Jesus as their top priority and he wanted to be one of the most important players in his new team”
