Arsenal has been linked with a move to sign João Cancelo to replace Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer transfer window.

Gunners are experiencing an incredible season in the Premier League. But Arsenal will use the summer transfer window to strengthen various areas of the squad.

Arsenal will bolster their full-back options and Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo is under Arteta’s radar. The Portuguese might leave Citizens in the summer.

According to 90mins, Arsenal are keen to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City this summer. The Portuguese international is one of finest full-backs in the world. He was loaned to Bayern Munich after a difficult first-half of the season at Etihad.

Bayern Munich signed Cancelo on a loan move and the German Giants have an option to sign him permanently for £70m this summer. But Bavarian feels the fee is too steep and it is unlikely that they’ll trigger their option to sign him.

However, Arsenal already signed two world-class players from Manchester City in likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus. Arteta now wants Cancelo in the upcoming summer transfer window.

But buying Cancelo will make the way out for Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer. Arsenal could sell the Japanese international as he missed stagerring 166 days of football due to injuries.

With Champions League back at Emirates, Arsenal could make a move for Cancelo, and that could bring end to Tomiyasu’s time in red and whites. But he still has four years remaining in his contract at City.
