Arsenal have been linked to Declan Rice for quite some time now. They are among those clubs who want to sign Declan Rice this transfer window. And as things stand right now, things look good for the Gunners. Rice is expected to leave West Ham United. Furthermore, after being loyal to his boyhood club, the player is now expected to peruse Champions League football. Therefore Arsenal being at the top of the table have pretty much guaranteed a spot in the Champions League. However, Declan Rice have been linked with Chelsea longer than that. Therefore a move to Stamford Bridge should not come as a surprise. However, Arsenal have positioned themselves better in the League. They are at the top of the table and will very well get a position in the Champions League. However, Chelsea might not end up getting a spot in the Champions League as things stand.

Arsenal are in a better position to sign Declan Rice

Arsenal journalist Ben Jacobs have talked about the club’s interest in the player. The journalist believes that Arsenal are indeed ahead in the race to sign Declan Rice. Jacobs have commented,

“Arsenal are still perhaps slightly ahead of Chelsea, simply because of their league position and how advanced their project is comparative to Chelsea,”

He further added,

“Rice, as I’m told, would quite like to stay in London, so Chelsea and Arsenal may sense an opportunity there compared to say Manchester United or even Newcastle United.”

Arsenal are currently at the top of the Premier League table after beating Aston Villa last weekend. The Gunners are expected to spend well in the summer transfer window. Declan Rice is reportedly on the priority list of the club.

It would be a bit surprising if Declan Rice doesn’t sign for Chelsea after all the ordeals that Chelsea are going through. But he could very well be swayed by the project at Arsenal. If the Gunners win the Premier League, then the arrival of the West Ham star becomes a real possibility.
