Arsenal eyeing shock return of former Emirates Stadium star

As claimed by Chilean outlet La Tercera, Arsenal are keeping an eye on the situation of Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international was also a former star for the Emirates Stadium outfit.

The North London club is currently keeping tabs on him as Inter Milan might potentially terminate his contract this summer. Also, another Premier League club, Aston Villa, can reportedly match his wage demands the Nerazurris used to pay to him.

The 33 year old had quite an okayish campaign in the recently concluded season for Inter Milan. He made 39 appearances for the club and scored 9 goals in that time. Furthermore, he also registered 5 assists to his name in the same period. Out of the 39 apps he made, 30 of them were off the bench. Now he will enter the final 12 months of his current contract and there’s a possibility that the club might just terminate that.

Other suitors for Alexis other than Arsenal

The report also claims that he will leave the San Siro outfit this season, possibly as a free agent. This move to release Sanchez might cause Inter £3.25 million. La Tercera also claimed that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on their former star for a potential return. His  £125k a-week wages are proving too much for Jorge Sampaoli’s side Olympique Marseille. Meanwhile, the PL outfit Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa is ready to match that wage demand.

There’s doubt on if Arsenal fans will be happy to see Sanchez back again after the way he joined their rivals Manchester United back in the winter transfer window of the 2017 – 2018 season. However, he’s surely a legend of the Gunners in the Emirates era. In 166 appearances for them, he amassed 80 goals and registered 45 assists. But that was in his prime, something he’s way past now.
