Arsenal wants to sign a top-class midfielder who is regarded as the next “Luka Modric”

Bringing in a new midfielder is a priority for Arsenal in the transfer window. For this, they have set their sights on Croatian midfielder Lovro Majer. Dubbed as the next Modric, Majer plays in the midfield of Rennes. His brilliant performances at the start of the campaign has attracted the attention of several clubs. According to Fichajes, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing the player.

According to the report by the Mirror, Arsenal scouts were present in Croatia for the match against Denmark. The winning goal for Croatia was scored by Lovro Majer who the scouts had come to see in action. Majer arrived at Rennes from Dinamo Zagreb for a fee of £ 10 million. He has had some fantastic performances for Rennes since his arrival. Now, according to the Mirror, Rennes will not let the player go unless it is for a fee of at least £44m. Majer is a long-term replacement for Granit Xhaka at Arsenal.

Arsenal still needs some reinforcement in their midfield. Thomas Partey has suffered an injury on international duty. He picked up a knock while warming up which led to his exclusion from the starting eleven minutes before the match began. Moreover, the injury to Mohamed Eleny has revealed the lack of depth in the Arsenal midfield. Majer is a budding midfielder and a star in the making. Arsenal could do well by signing the player in the next window. Currently, the Gunners are at the top of the league. However, they need to improve their squad depth if they want to consistently compete with Manchester City and Liverpool for titles.
